Startup School 4: Five Continents – 500 Startups
In an increasingly interconnected global economy, innovation and entrepreneurship have become important drivers of sustainable growth, competitiveness, and economic transformation. Rapid technological development, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and changing market dynamics are creating new opportunities while also requiring startups and innovation ecosystems to adapt, collaborate, and expand across borders.
Within this context, international cooperation and cross-border connectivity have become increasingly important for supporting entrepreneurship, facilitating access to knowledge and investment, and enabling innovative solutions to reach global markets. Bringing together startups, mentors, experts, investors, corporations, and public and private sector representatives can contribute to the development of stronger, more connected, and internationally oriented innovation ecosystems.
Against this background, Startup School 4: Five Continents – 500 Startups has been designed as an global innovation program aimed at supporting startups, fostering knowledge exchange, and strengthening connections among innovation ecosystems across different countries and continents. The program brings together participants from diverse markets and backgrounds, creating opportunities for learning, mentorship, networking, investment, and international collaboration.
Program at a Glance
The fourth edition of Startup School has attracted participation from a broad geographical area, reflecting its international and cross-border character. The program received nearly 350 applications from 15 countries, namely Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Denmark, Egypt, Ghana, Morocco, Madagascar, Ethiopia, the United Kingdom, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, and Uganda. Following the selection process, 233 startup teams were admitted to the program.
The program has also established a broad international expert and mentor network. Nearly 30 trainers and mentors from innovation ecosystems in countries including the United States, Malta, China, Finland, Türkiye, Australia, Estonia, Azerbaijan, Qatar, Pakistan, India, Ethiopia, and Madagascar have contributed to the program.
As part of the training phase, 20 sessions across 11 modules were delivered, covering a wide range of topics relevant to startup development and internationalization. These included sustainable economy, digitalization, artificial intelligence, leadership and team management, marketing, sales strategy, innovation and product management, intellectual property, business development, investment readiness, and emerging markets.
The program is supported by a network of nearly 40 local and international partners, including innovation centres, technology parks, training and development organizations, venture capital funds, and other ecosystem stakeholders. The partner network also includes nine venture capital funds representing ecosystems from countries such as the United States, China, Türkiye, Qatar, Pakistan, Malta, Finland, and Azerbaijan.
